Introduction
School children Norimichi (Yuta Yamazaki), Yusuke (Takayuki Sorita), and Junichi (Kenji Kohashi) want to know if fireworks look round or flat from the side. They make a plan to find the answer at a firework display, while Nazuna (Megumi Okina) schemes to run away with Norimichi or Yusuke, whoever wins at the pool.

Director Shunji Iwai

Born in 1963, Shunji Iwai began his directing career in 1988 with commercials, music videos, and TV dramas. His cinematic style and vision came to be known as the “Iwai Aesthetic”. In 1995, he scored a huge hit across Asia with Love Letter. Other major works include Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or the Bottom? (Uchiage Hanabi, Shita kara Miruka? Yoko kara Miruka?) (1993), Swallowtail Butterfly (1996), April Story (Shigatsu Monogatari) (1998), All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001), Hana and Alice (2004), Vampire (2012), and The Case of Hana & Alice (2015). His latest work is A Bride for Rip Van Winkle (2016).
