Introduction

The first color film and the biggest hit in the series. America's King Kong and Japan’s Godzilla duel in this third film of the series. The film was cut by 24 minutes to make an edited version, but after discovery of the long lost omitted film, the 1962 version was restored with the latest digital technologies in 4K for the first time for the series and returned to the screen after 54 years.

Director	Ishiro Honda Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1911, Honda graduated from Nihon University College of Art before joining P.C.L. (now TOHO). He worked with Eiji Tsuburaya, directing special effect films, including Godzilla (1954), first of the blockbuster series, Mothra (1961), and Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965), establishing the monster film genre and creating a boom. He’s well known internationally because many of his films have been released overseas.
