Introduction

Director Mamoru Hosoda's life-long theme is "affirmation of life". Many of his works are filled with hopes, but the path he took was not always sunny. Having repeatedly crawled out of the abyss of despair, he has been driven by his conviction backed by his own experiences. This TV documentary closely follows the production of The Boy and the Beast over 300 days, getting to the heart of Hosoda. (Broadcast on NHK on August 3, 2015.)

* The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Ordiance for Healthy Youth Development prohibits individuals under age of 18 from being at theaters from 23:00 to 4:00. This also applies when these individuals are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

* Screenings at TIFF are not eligible for Cinemileage (TOHO CINEMAS mileage).

* TIFF tickets are not eligible for parking services at any of the venues.
