Introduction

This is the story of Nat Turner, the legendary leader of the nation's largest and most effective antebellum slave uprising, which took place in 1831. An up-and-coming young actor, Nate Parker spent seven years portraying Nat's life as the birth of something new, with beautiful cinematography and strong storytelling, an alternate take on the 1915 film classic, D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation. It won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Director	Nate Parker Nate Parker is a well-known actor having appeared in Non-Stop and Arbitrage. The Birth of a Nation is his directorial debut, premiering at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival where FOX Searchlight Pictures acquired the distribution rights to the film for a Sundance record-breaking amount. Parker won the CinemaCon Breakthrough Director of the Year Award for this film.

* The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Ordiance for Healthy Youth Development prohibits individuals under age of 18 from being at theaters from 23:00 to 4:00. This also applies when these individuals are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

* Screenings at TIFF are not eligible for Cinemileage (TOHO CINEMAS mileage).

* TIFF tickets are not eligible for parking services at any of the venues.
