We are pleased to announce that we will expand the screening venue to EX Theater Roppongi at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival.
TIFF will also hold entrance free events during the festival such as a special one-day anime event, TIFF Ani!! Event on Halloween (October 31), and open-air screenings under the moniker TIFF Cinema Arena.
EX Theater Roppongi to Become the Festival’s Main Theater!
In addition to Roppongi Hills, the EX THEATER ROPPONGI will join the festival as a new main theater. The theater will be the largest venue in terms of capacity during the festival’s 10 days.
Starting with Opening ceremony on Oct 25, there will be held Closing ceremony on Nov 3 and screening of Competition section.

Open-Air Cinema
During the Tokyo International Film Festival’s run, from October 26 to 30, open-air screenings will take place at the Roppongi Hills Arena, under the moniker TIFF Cinema Arena.
As an event kickoff, there will also be an open-air screening, Tower Light Cinema, entitled “Won’t you come talk about cinema?” it aims to encourage film-loving participants to kickstart discussions on cinema.

“TIFF Ani!!” Event at the Tokyo International Forum
Continuing to highlight the latest trends in Japanese animation, TIFF is pleased to announce that it will feature the most “happening” phenomenon of them all in today’s Japanimation sphere: “anison” or anime music.
The festival will hold a special one-day anime event on Halloween (October 31) spotlighting a wide range of Japanese animation from theatrically released works that have gained the attention of the masses to more niche works that have won the overwhelming adoration of Akihabara-going anime fans.
